He put the Christmas lights up in October and was told that he couldn't turn them on until after Thanksgiving. But since Christmas lights have been lighting up all over our neighborhood I finally let him turn on his special new LED lights. He didn't put up very many lights, but the ones he has are pretty cool.

Prenatal Part II
First of all I had a Dr.'s appointment on Monday. We were curious as to which way Peterbilt was situated in there. The Dr. felt around and said that he seems to have his head down and in ready position. That's a good thing. They said from the beginning that I would be having a lot of back labor, but I'm glad that he's at least head down and not transverse.
We also had another prenatal class last night. Greg and the teacher talked high school football again before class started. Her sons are on the Sheridan team. Then we got to tour the Women's Health area of the hospital. That is where we will have the baby and be able to stay with him. Due to swine flu only siblings and grandparents of the baby will be allowed in to visit them. There are private delivery rooms and postpartum rooms. They also encourage keeping the baby in room and as close to mom as much as possible. That's makes me feel pretty good. They have a few security measures in place too, to make sure that no one runs off with our baby. I didn't see the baby lo-jacks like a few of my cousins have had, but she ensured us that no one will be messing with our baby that isn't supposed to be. It seems like it will be quite comfortable, safe, and good place to start getting to know our little Peterbilt.
We also got to be massaged by our coaches in this class. She asked one of the husbands if he massages his wife. Of course he said yes. She piped up pretty quickly and said, "No he doesn't." He started to turn pretty red. They are due on the 31st of Dec. We are due on the 1st of Jan. Greg and he already kibitz each other and Kerry the teacher. I can't imagine if we ended up all being there together. It would keep things interesting to say the least.

Joke Name
A few weeks ago Greg decided to text our friends and post on facebook that our child's name was going to be Peterbilt Kenworth Damm. If you don't recognize the names Peterbilt and Kenworth here are a couple of pictures to clue you in.
At Greg's work they have and use these brands of truck. When he first mentioned the names to me I said, "Are we going to get paid for advertising?" Nope.
Ray did something similar with their twins. He used to joke that if they were boys they would be called Farson and Wamsutter. So now it's our turn.

Prenatal Classes
Last night was our first prenatal class. They are once a week for four weeks. One of our first things was to introduce ourselves and tell what our biggest fear was or what has been on our minds the most. Nobody said the pain. Most ladies said having their water break in an embarrassing place like the store or not being able to have a loved one there. Mine was going back to work after my maternity leave. How are we going to do childcare? After having three months off, will I have a breakdown on the day I have to go back?
She also said that all of the pregnant women have had contractions by now. I'm sure I've had them, but that I mistook them for the baby moving. Now, everytime there's something going on down there I wonder if it's him moving or a contraction? It's a lot more comforting to think that it's baby moving.
The end of the class was good. We got to lie on the beanbags and practice our breathing and progressive relaxation. I've done progressive relaxation before (my mom had a tape), I just hadn't heard of it being referred by that name before. It's nice to have Greg along to support me too. He's pretty good about telling it like it is (and laughing at me when I tried to scrunch up my face). Not everyone has a spouse to be there with them, and I felt very blessed to have mine.

??
Is it bad that we check our own blog compulsively just to see the baby widget spinning around? And to see how many days we have left?

Ahhh.....pictures again.
This is our new camera. I think it's pretty sweet and I got a pretty good deal on it from Kmart.
With it I was able to take a few pictures. Here's the crib all put together and gathering things as it sits.Greg moved the shelter from where the dogs used to be to where they are now. He had to revamp it a little bit with very long stakes into the ground.
He also built three shelves for around the house. This one is for gloves and hats next to the coat rack.
This one is over the stairs going to the basement.
This one is in our living room. It was planned for a while because I wanted a place to put our wedding present from Greg's Grandma and Grandpa Meehan.

Emotional
Friday was a pretty crazy day. I'm getting big enough now that I popped a button on one pair of pants and decided that the other pair just like them didn't need to go through the strain anymore. So two pairs of pants got added to my stack in the closet of clothes I hope to wear again after our little boy comes.
Then I got an email from my supervisor saying that one of the girls was asking her if I was pregnant. She told this girl that was a question for me. The girl's reply "What if she's just gaining weight? I don't want to offend her" Good girl! So I finally got the guts on Friday morning to tell them all before they went to school. They were really happy and asking lots of questions. One girl was saying, "I told you to get pregnant while I was here. You should name him after me." It's all my doing....you being pregnant is really about me...... Teenagers. I waited to tell them for so long because we recently had a girl there that was pregnant. I couldn't imagine having a staff there that was pregnant at the same time and being compared to each other all the time. I thought it would be a little easier on her not to let the girls know. The funny thing is that one of the staff didn't know until last week either. (That's another really annoying story). So they all have something new to talk about for a little while. Several of them were quite impressed that I managed to hide it for so long. Thank goodness for hoodies with kangaroo pockets on the front. It is a big relief not to try to hide it anymore though.
Friday night was a really neat experience. I told Greg earlier that Baby wanted to say hi to him sometime tonight. When I was laying down for my nap Baby was kicking pretty good in his usual spot continuously. So I called Greg in and had him put his hand on that spot. Baby was kicking like crazy right away. Greg said, "Quit laughing." I said, "I'm not laughing."
Greg's hand was pretty cold so I think that helped. Baby's like "get that cold thing away from me." Greg switched to the other cold hand that convinced Baby to move and kick somewhere else.
In more news.....our new camera should be arriving on Monday. Yay for pictures!
